Unbelievable! Obviously the misogyny runs very deep! I can’t believe he said that he doesn’t have to listen to you, but only your husband! I’m sick of that attitude that runs through the men in power in MO, and that the women republicans feel the same way that they do about women’s bodies.
Well. My mouth dropped open when I read his response to you. How infuriating! And how on earth are we to get a louder, stronger national voice to get our democracy back on track? As a young woman, I lived through the fight for choice and the freedom to live a secure, fulfilled life. I want that for everyone, not just the privileged.
Allen is from my hometown, just a few years older than me. I looked up to him as a kid. He always treated me well. To see how he pandered to the religious right as an elected official, and to read how he treated you, breaks my heart a little bit. Just a little, because it mostly pisses me off. I'm sure you're not the only woman he dismissed this way, and now that he's in an appointed position, I have no doubt that it's still happening.
These jerks who use The Handmaid's Tale as a playbook, not a dystopian warning, will see their christofascist fantasies crumble if we can convince enough people to wake up and see what they're trying to do.
Thank you for everything that you are doing, Jess. I regularly read your posts on threads and I catch lots of your TikToks. You have great things to say! Please don’t get discouraged! You have so many people behind you, supporting you. We NEED you!
A teacher... a voice... and an excellent role model! 💙
The saddest part is that he’s not the real problem. It’s that he embodies the attitude of so many voters in our communities. Consider how many women gave him their votes.
This is why we need more women to run for these seats. If we don't want to live in Gilead, we have to fight.

I can’t imagine. I don’t live in Missouri (or in a red state) and was unaware of the behavior you describe. So appreciate how hard you work.

Female bodily autonomy is not up for debate.
