Excellent interview.

Ambulance deserts and expanded childcare credits are crucial and wildly underreported issues.

Everyone in this country should get the help they need for medical care and being able to have decent housing. Many people don’t understand that multi-billionaires have more money than they can spend in 5 lifetimes even if they were extravagant. Taxing the rich is a mantra that has answers. These taxes refer to amounts OVER a massive amount. We must have a fully BLUE CONGRESS to attain desperately needed help for many people.

As a side, most people need a boost for a down payment on a home. It's a lot of money to set aside if you are just keeping up with ordinary needs.

In Denmark, anybody/everybody who needs medical attention gets full scope care, and pays zero. All medical conditions are fully treated, no exceptions (think here of America's unconscionable scams by medical insurance companies twisting and bending nuances in moraless ways, making every effort to deny coverage). Most of Europe's medical establishment see America's medical force as blatantly criminal, especially the big pharmaceuticals. A completely accurate assessment.

Great podcast Jess!!-I just started listening to it and I can see that Tom Vilsack is another of the decent politicians that we forget about when faced with the Trump noise everyday!! As well, coming from Canada, we have a very large rural population and an important one, and great to see more decent people recognizing and promoting Kamala and Tim's concern for rural voters!!

Tom Vilsack is so plain speaking and straightforward. Listening to him makes me breathe easier and I hope he will have a role in the administration implementing the plan he discussed. There is a need for more plain speaking Democrats from the Midwest. Thanks for such an illuminating interview, Jess!

Now if we could only force feed this information to every MAGA. Unfortunately, their minds appear to be closed to whatever truth they might allow anywhere near them.

Force feeding information is absolutely the least effective way of getting through to anyone. A lot of small farmers and rural folk would benefit from the kind of rural programs Harris/Walz are proposing- an extension of earlier progressive efforts in the 20th century. They just do not grasp what these programs really would do. But the best way to go about this is simply to focus on getting out the vote for H/W, and working to elect people to Congress who are capable of getting supporting legislature passed to support those programs. Seeing something work for their neighbors is the real tool that will bring people around. When I was working in this field, it was often the hold-outs seeing things working for neighbors who became the best advocates for the programs that benefited their communities and not the big corporations. Earl Butz was the worst thing that ever happened to American agriculture and the rural environment, and he left a lot of debris that needs cleaning up, One of our priorities should be to stop taking digs at the people who suffered the most, and start finding ways to include them in the solutions.

This interview was SO positive, informative, and uplifting it has brightened my entire day!!! It also warmed my heart to listen to you (who we all know is a terrific person) and the very impressive, smart, kind, down-to-earth Tom Vilsack who I'd never heard in a long interview before.

I'm sad to say this, but I am so used to years of being subjected to all the hateful, bullying talk from "the party of old, white, rich men and Trump cult followers that thrives on lies, white nationalism, misogyny, racism, regressive goals, fascism and cruelty" that your quiet, personal, honest, refreshingly decent conversation with Mr. Vilsack about great ideas put forth by the Harris-Walz team for helping a large group of important Americans was overwhelming in its GOODNESS, decency and caring.

Those who've already suggested this are absolutely right: This interview needs to go national! Someone with connections needs to contact Lawrence O'Donnell and spread this hope and goodness across our country. Thank you so much, Jess!
