I wrote a long piece on gardening and religion this morning and published it right before Joe’s news…bad timing.
I won’t keep you long here except to say, as a rural Democratic activist, I’m pissed, but I’m in it to win it. I am very aware that folks in the party dismissed Democratic voters and bypassed our voices to pressure Joe Biden into his decision. The media has played an outsized role and the wealthy donors made up their mind and there was nothing any of us could do about it.
I have been vocal on this issue…as a rural Democrat, I am accustomed to being ignored and overlooked. I am used to being given a pat on the head and told someone knows better than me. It happens every day.
But, I will say this…I hope it’s Kamala. If our nominee is not Kamala, we lose all decency and credibility. We lose our way and our base. We will have made one of the gravest errors in our party’s history.
I am also hopeful Kamala will be the nominee. I will put on my boots and go to work day one. I will knock doors in rural spaces for a woman running to extend democracy for at least four more years. A qualified and vetted woman who will keep us on track.
We have to beat Trump, but after that, we need a reckoning in the party. I’m kind of sick of this shit.
In solidarity.

Loved your piece this morning, and I couldn't agree with you more on the whole Biden thing. The NYT managed to piss me off with their headlines about Biden's announcement, describing the Dems in disarray. Facing work and decisions, yes. Disarray, no.
