Keep doing what you're doing, Jess. As you undoubtedly know, cults fall apart when the lies and corruption of their leader(s) are exposed and become undeniable. One by one, the heartland is waking up to the betrayal, the lies, and the rampant corruption of Republicans. Your voice is an important part of that.

Twila Samborski's avatar

I hope you're right, but more & more lies are exposed daily & these MAGA diehards are still fully in.

Unhinged people do not go out quietly

See Paul Krugman's Substack for today, June 10, 2026. Trump is losing support in some of the Heartland.

Hoping this response was made on her fb page...but I know, from experience it causes worse feelings. People in that cult can't seem to hear or understand anything logical.

Glen's avatar

Because they’re …. unhinged from reality.

Marthe's avatar

Yes, they are!

I don’t know how they are allowed by a “higher power” to keep breathing!

I'm still trying to figure out how Missouri went from President Harry Truman, the man who integrated the military with an excellent speech about equality to what that state sent to the Senate in Josh Hawley instead of keeping the intelligent, empathetic Claire McCaskill.

Twila Samborski's avatar

You & every other Democrat in Missouri!

Janice Palesch's avatar

Even more, how did it go from voting for a deceased Senator over a Republican, to Schmitt and Hawley?

Cindy Weir's avatar

I voted for the dead guy!

Janice Palesch's avatar

So did I. But, let's face it, everybody who voted for Trump in 2024 essentially voted for a dead guy, too. He's rotting before our eyes. I just threw out lettuce that looked much better than he does.

Charlotte Folsom's avatar

Me too! Found my "I'm Still with Mel" shirt the other day.

Hudson E Baldwin lll's avatar

Um...Claire was a TERRIBLE legislator. Appeasing her conservative base got her a One term gig. A Corp Democrat of the Clinton era.

Randy Barron's avatar

No, just no. She came from grass-roots democracy in Kansas City, and never forgot who she represented. Just because she got establishment support from the DNC doesn't mean she was establishment. I knew her from face-to-face interactions, and you seem more influenced by trendy memes.

Karen's avatar

I found you by accident. I don´t live anywhere near Missouri (a CA woman now living in Sweden for over 30 years) but boy do I like you!!

Marthe's avatar

You are not alone!

Shelly Bentley's avatar

You really have to have blinders on to have negative bills passed that hurt you personally over and over and yet still vote for these same law makers.

Ally House (Oregon)'s avatar

The only thing I can figure is that it is a cult. They are brainwashed.

foofaraw & Chiquita(ARF!)'s avatar

"MAGA hates the thing they hate more than they love the things they love."

This allowed them to condemn their elderly to a horrible death, instead of a simple shot.

And the same is about to be true of their small children, once denied lifesaving vaccinations.

All because Trump wants them to "own the libs."

Karen Charest's avatar

It’s a cult and they follow their leader!

Norm's avatar

Well, Jess, if you are "unhinged", I guess those of us who read your stuff are unhinged, too. I actually consider it a badge of honor. My apologies if I am repeating myself here, but every time the Regressives verbally attack you, it proves you are getting to them. I hope you stay on the offensive for as long as you are able.

Jess Piper's avatar

Unhinged, UNITE! 😂❤️

Norm's avatar

Unhinged. United. Unapologetic.

That would make a good t-shirt. ✌️

Marthe's avatar

I’d buy one1

Except that these special needs cultists don't get sarcasm,,,bless their cotton socks.

Hudson E Baldwin lll's avatar

Let's found an UNHINGED Party!

I think Rep Tom Coleman is still alive. 😉

All kidding aside, he might have been the last honest Republican in America.

Eagleton was a charlatan.

Randy Barron's avatar

Oh, now I see. You are not trying to be taken seriously. Sad.

Charlie H's avatar

Because he didn't have to?!

That's the posture of a serf toward their lord, rather than a co-partipant and fellow citizen in a democracy.

Will Weaver's avatar

Thanks for all the work you do toward upholding democracy--which is clearly under great stress these days.

christopher o'loughlin's avatar

Jess,

You are amazingly unhinged and i love it. I want to thank you for your hope courage and compassion reporting truth to power with evidence and history. Don't change a thing.

We are in this together. No Kings.

Peace. Christopher and family in Upstate SC.

Some people just don't think...they follow.

Ally House (Oregon)'s avatar

Jess, you describe perfectly the bifurcation of reality that the unfettered stream of disinformation and propaganda that the "other side" sups at so willingly and gleefully. I have been engaging (against my better judgement) with some of my former work cohort (retired cops I worked with or along side in my 30 years in law enforcement) when they post some of the utter trash they believe is "news". The last foray was with a former sergeant of mine who was trying to call Democrats (he did not use that term, having fallen into the pit of name-calling referring to "Dumbocrats") inconsistent when they did not equally condemn Graham Plattner for his domestic assault conduct and the alleged offenders who are mentioned in the Epstein files.

I pointed out that there is a wide gap between domestic violence from a 4 tours combat veteran who has sought treatment and those who engage in criminal sexual conduct with children who have been sex trafficked. I was vilified for not taking domestic assault cases seriously (I had gone toe to toe with this sergeant's mentor who tried to prohibit me from investigating a rape committed by a man under a restraining order who broke into his wife's residence and raped her; his claim was that a man couldn't rape his wife. I probably crossed the line of insubordination when I explained how and why that was wrong, but was never formally charged with it.)

The real "derangement syndrome" is with those who feed at that trough of amygdalae tickling hatred of "others".

Hudson E Baldwin lll's avatar

In Missouri, neither GOP voters or Democratic Party constituents know a damn thing about what is going on in the Capital.

It's embarrassing.

steve reed's avatar

How did they think it did not concern them?

Hudson E Baldwin lll's avatar

Key word? "Think" When you know nothing about a topic, all you can offer are opinions. Poorly educated, easily influenced ones.

Marthe's avatar

Had to look up the word: amygdala or Latin amygdalae.

Two small nodes deep in the brain the

Marthe's avatar

that control the bassest of our instincts

Including “fight or flight”, fear of “the other”, and something else I can’t remember.

Just nasty I stuff we all think we’re over put apparently we’re not.

“SAD, JUST SAD!”

Bob Morgan's avatar

Jess, the sad reality is that some people will resort to the basest means to stifle opposing views. I applaud your courage and your sacrifice, and admire your resolve. An army of Jesses would be formidable indeed! Keep up the great work!

James O Preston's avatar

The term "unhinged" suggests a door or gate off its hinges, "causing it to swing wildly and unpredictably." So who removed the hinges? The MOGOP who for 20+ years have ruled rather than represented Missourians, pushing their regressive agenda of dismantling vital infrastructure and services onto the people.

Jean Lopez's avatar

Spot on, Jess. Again and again. Thanks for all you're doing.

Mary Martin's avatar

I truly appreciate you, Jess!

Brilliant Jess. March on!
