I feel my impact is sooo much smaller than yours but your story helps me realize that there are soooo many ways to support our movement and we all can't be a Jess. As long as we keep pushing and helping and speaking up and joining and writting and supporting --- we will all make an impact and we will get this country were it needs to be
My high-school American lit teacher was from Rich Fountain, MO. When he spoke about Mark Twain, it was spellbinding — it was as if he’d been personally acquainted with him. Your beautiful account of Dust’s Hannibal adventure brought it all back for me. Thank you!
I felt this too.Growing up in MO the wonderful writings and lore of Mark Twain and his characters were greatly celebrated, and gave me great inspiration to read and dream as a kid. This story embodies that spirit wrapped in the lesson of how much we can contribute as support in the background.
We all need the stalwarts who stand with us and behind us to make progress. This is true in life and in fighting for democracy.
My spouse is one of those pillars who supports me, no matter what. Our Democracy will stand because of ALL of us, those in the front AND the back AND the sides. Together we march, a full phalanx.
You write with such love and respect for your partner. You are lucky to have found each other. Thank you for sharing your lives, stories, and talent with the rest of us.
My late husband was a Tom Sawyer. From the beginning, with no discussion, he cooked half the meals, did his laundry, repaired clothes on the sewing machine, cleaned the bathrooms, etc., plus did all the endless projects around the house and yard. He supported my career and outspokenness without fail. (Can't you control your wife?)
Beyond missing him, the hardest part of widowhood is having to be two people.

Thank you for sharing your love and admiration for your life’s partner. God bless and keep you both! Does Dust still have the trophy? 🏆 😁
He has no idea where that trophy went 😭
I bet one of his sisters knows...
😢

🤷🏼♂️😃
Dust is the wind beneath your wings.

A wonderful, heart filled tribute. Darnit! Now my eyeballs are sweating. All my best to you both.
Your man sounds like the friend everyone wants. You are indeed fortunate, and are excellent for declaring your loving respect for him.

Thank you for sharing. My wife and I are a similar team; your story resonates with me.
I love your description of your man, but insist on a picture of his award-winning legs!
😂 He’s one of those guys who never worked out but had legs like tree stumps
Loved this story. Thanks to both of you!
Wonderful story. Keep doing what you're doing, the two of you are great!
